"A camera is a tool for learning how to see without a camera."

The above quote perfectly encapsulates the purpose of my
posts and my recent connection with photography. One can live in a city for their entire life without seeing its true personality. My hometown, the city of Pittsburgh, through recent spurts of Renaissance, has become one of the most photogenic locations in the world.

Much like Pittsburgh's Renaissance, my investment in a DSLR camera caused a renaissance in myself. My name is Tom Ratchkauskas and my time as a devoted photographer has lead me to many destinations I never knew existed in my own backyard. The need for patience and detailed observation, searching for new subject matter and a constant passion to better my skills, traits photography help develop have allowed me to see my surroundings in a new light. Slowing down my pace to frame the best photographs possible has caused me to see details and behaviors most do not see in a normal fast paced environment.

This blog is intended to show the revival and beauty of the most resilient city in the country,  Pittsburgh, along with any other locations my camera's shutter captures and my passion for photography through the blend of historic and personal antidotes and photography.
