"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." – Eddard Stark
As ice and snow cover the region, Pittsburgh begins to look more like Winterfell than its usual self. The North Shore with its river access and unique views of the city's bridges and skyline make it the ideal place to capture Winter's splendor. Bridge decks covered in snow and blocks of ice floating along the river create excellent contrast with the steel and glass of the city. The city sits still and frozen as resilient wildlife wheathers the storm covered in a layer of powder. Several rounds of Winter storms barreled through during the span of the following photographs, For some reason during the coldest span of Winter, geese and seagulls covered the riverwalk in large numbers. The North Shore always provides fantastic photographs, but the stillness of the frigid city along the Allegheny River provides views not as often seen and appreciated.
