Pittsburgh High Points (Part II) - Saint Jonh's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery - Spring Hill

At one of the highest points in the city, in a neighborhood aptly named Spring Hill-City View, sits an old German cemetery dating back to the 1800's. The neighborhood holds a strong German background still evident in the surrounding area. On the other side of the hill are German breweries and historic Deutschetown, evidence of the north part of the cities strong germamic past. Being another rarely visited and highly elevated point in Pittsburgh, this spot allows you to take in a similar view as you would see coming in from I-279 South while in almost complete solitude. The old headstones make an interesting foreground for a sprawling view of downtown and the immediate area, stretching from Bluff to the North Side. I have always wanted to capture Pittsburgh coming in from the North along I-279 and finally got the chance to at this unmatched location.
