Oakland Series (Part III) Hail to Pitt!

The University of Pittsburgh with its humble beginnings in 1787 stands as a beacon of higher education not only in the region but throughout the world. Continuously ranked in the top 100 universities, Pitt has brought about one of the leading medical centers, helped cure Polio and produced Hall of Fame NFL players, industry leaders and philanthropists. The campus sits in the city's Oakland neighborhood surrounded by some of the city's best civic amenities. Standing tall at 42 stories, the Cathedral of Learning stands as a neo-gothic symbol of excellence. During the Summer, gardens burst with color across the street in front of Cathy's neighbor, The Carnegie Museum and Library. Statues of Dippy the Dipladocus and the Schenley Fountain look toward the sprawling campus with Schenley Park's reinvented grand entrance in between them. While the Cathedral of Learning may be tall, it doesn't overshadow its excellent neighbors, Carnegie Mellon University and Phipps Conservatory.
